And now, a letter from Kelly Butler, the founder of the event:
On March 6, 2010 we will be holding the “new & improved” Cowboy Ball, a benefit for the Summit in Honduras Project. Can we count on your support?
Last year, the Cowboy Sweethearts’ Ball, raised money and awareness to support the mission in rural Honduras. Thanks to your help, Maggie Ducayet and her team were able to actually identify a plot of land for a new school in Nuevas Delicias. It is a small, poor village in the mountains in northwestern Honduras without clean running water or electricity. Construction has begun on the school and there are over 200 children in the village watching every day knowing that they will soon get their own chance for an education.
This year, the focus is on supplying this wonderful town with a source of clean drinking water. This town wants a better life for all of its people and they want the help to make that happen and not be dependent on us or anyone else. This is what we want, a way to sustainability. This town doesn't want a handout, but they do want a partner to help them create a better situation for their community. You and everyone involved with Summit in Honduras is committed to making that happen.
We continue to improve the “Ball” to appeal to the Cowboy in all of us. This year, we have landed the premier country western band to ever tour Summit County. That’s right; the Walker Williams Band will be performing live from 7-11PM. If you’ve seen him perform at the Silverthorne Pavilion or Grizzly Rose in Denver, then you know he brings an entertaining mix of original and classic tunes to the stage. Even toe tappers like me find their way to the dance floor.
Plus, we are adding a silent auction to the event. The silent auction is another opportunity to increase our profit and outreach. And some prize donations have already been offered: trips to Sedona, AZ and Payson, AZ with airfare, concert and rodeo tickets and private dance lessons. Would you be willing to donate to this auction, as well?
If you attended last year’s Cowboy Ball, you remember that the event was well attended by well over 250 local “cowpokes”.

Thank you,
